Prof. Dr. Martin Zuschin

© Jörn Peckmann

Martin Zuschin did his PhD-thesis on actuopalaeontology of coral reef-associated molluscs of the northern Red Sea; his main expertise are the taxonomy, taphonomy and paleoecology of molluscs. He is currently Co-chief Editor of Palaios. His on-going research is mostly concerned with long-term ecosystem stability, historical ecology and conservation paleobiology of benthic ecosystems, including reefs. He was also involved in previous studies on bivalve reefs.

Prof. Dr. Rainer Abart

Rainer Abart is head of the Department for Lithospheric Research at University of Vienna and leads the group for geo-material research. With him as a leading expert in mineral recant kinetics, he and his working group will be the most important advisors concerning EBSD data acquisition as well as producing and interpreting orientation maps from EBSD data.

Julian Huemer, MSc

Julian Huemer studied Earth Sciences at University of Vienna. Early during his studies, he became passionate about the interplay of the inanimate lithosphere with the biosphere. Consequently, he did his bachelor's thesis on Badenian (Middle Miocene) stromatolites and, later on, his master's thesis on Upper Triassic brachiopod mass occurrences.  Julian is currently a PhD student at the Department of Paleontology, twisting his mind to understand the taxonomy of Placunopsis and what makes these little bivalves such venturous pioneers in the Triassic period.
